The Seattle Kraken are strangers to standing above the rest of the Pacific Division. They have not finished better than fourth, but there is no way that you can count this team out of doing it.

Seemingly, they are turning the corner toward being a playoff hopeful. With some nice additions and a new head coach to boot, possibilities are endless for the Kraken in 2024-25. But, could this upcoming year be the year that they finally crawl out of the bottom of the Pacific.

Let's talk about it.

From The Depths

The Pacific Division is full of heavy hitters. Edmonton and Vancouver are the top dogs, followed by Los Angeles who are turning the corner themselves. Seattle fits into the middle of the pack, with Calgary and Vegas, but well above San Jose and Anaheim who are leagues away from impacting this division.

As I said earlier, gaining some new additions will only help the Kraken return to the playoffs next season. Brandon Montour and Chandler Stephenson are going to make this team a lot better. Montour aids a dwindling defense, that was a hindrance on goaltenders Joey Daccord and Philip Grubauer. And for Stephenson, who has the capability of being a 60-point forward will help one of the worst offenses in the league last season.

If the Kraken were to rise from the depths of the Pacific Division, they are going to need a complete team effort. At all three levels, they will have to be, in every sense of the word, perfect. They have the team to do it, and a head coach in Dan Bylsma, who led his previous team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, to the top of the Metropolitan Division in 2012-13.

Do you think the Kraken have what it takes to win the Pacific Division in 2024-25?
