Night Nine - 1/13/2024

The Kraken’s holiday odyssey carried them into Columbus, where brisk breezes whistled through quiet streets and a dusting of frost clung to distant lamplights. This would be the last evening of their nine night celebration, a final chance to tuck another gift under the shimmering tree of their growing legacy.

From the opening faceoff, the game felt like a handful of dazzling ornaments scattered across fresh snow. Columbus struck first, a flicker of challenge in the winter gloom. Yet the Kraken answered swiftly, Jordan Eberle and Jared McCann stepping forward like cheerful carolers, their goals ringing out against the hush of a distant December memory. With every flick of the stick, Seattle’s skaters decorated the scoreboard in vibrant colors, refusing to let the Blue Jackets claim the brightest star.

The second period saw more wonders unfurl like ribbons unwound from a cherished box. Tye Kartye, Vince Dunn, Oliver Bjorkstrand, and others joined the merriment, their passes and finishes as graceful as a well rehearsed ballet. Each goal shimmered on the ice, a piece of good fortune shared under an ever watchful sky. Though Columbus tried to spark a comeback, the Kraken seemed to twirl through these attempts like dancers in a gentle snowfall, their resolve undimmed.

Joey Daccord guarded his crease as if protecting a priceless heirloom, allowing only what was necessary, never surrendering the soul of the night. When the clock neared its final toll, Eeli Tolvanen added an empty netter like the last bow tied neatly on a perfect present.

As the final horn called an end to the match and the streak itself, it felt as though all the holiday hopes and dreams of a distant December had found their home in these nine nights. The Kraken had proven, one more time, that kindness, skill, and spirit could turn even a simple game into a feast of joy and promise.
