Night Two - 12/23/2023
On the second evening of their holiday journey, the Seattle Kraken brought their yuletide spirit into Anaheim, determined to charm the Ducks and keep their win streak merry and bright. Although the setting had changed from city lights to Southern California skies, the Kraken carried with them a sack of gifts ready to be shared on the ice.
As the first period began, Oliver Bjorkstrand emerged as a skilled gift giver, unwrapping the scoring on a power play blast that zipped past the Ducks goaltender like a sleigh through snowy air. Jared McCann and Vince Dunn set the stage as kindly elves, their puck movement as graceful as tinsel draped upon a glistening tree. Moments later, Dunn delivered again with help from Tomas Tatar and Matty Beniers, placing a shimmering ornament on the scoreboard and giving Seattle a cozy two goal lead that warmed the heart, even far from home.
The Ducks, not wanting to leave empty handed, tried to nip at the Kraken’s heels in the second period with a power play tally from Frank Vatrano. Yet Joey Daccord stood tall, his calm presence as steady as a winter sunrise. Turning aside 32 of 34 shots, he guarded Seattle’s lead like a precious present beneath the boughs of a grand evergreen.
By the third period, Tomas Tatar sprinkled more festive joy with another sparkling goal, assisted by Dunn and Beniers, sealing Anaheim’s fate. Though the Ducks managed a late strike, the Kraken’s treasure trove of teamwork and determination proved too strong to unravel.
As the final horn sounded, Seattle emerged with a 3 to 2 triumph, tucking away yet another victory as if placing a cherished keepsake inside a velvet box. Their holiday spirit continued to glow, guiding them forward on this merry midwinter adventure.
