Night Six - 1/4/2024

After their grand outdoor spectacle and a flurry of away contests, the Seattle Kraken returned home to Climate Pledge Arena, carrying with them a warm glow of victory. Though the calendar had turned, the cozy spirit of the holidays still twinkled in every corner, as if the rink itself were wrapped in a soft, evergreen embrace.

From the moment the first period began, the Kraken skated as though guided by gentle candlelight. At just under ten minutes in, Yanni Gourde found the net with a strike as bright as a star in an ink black sky. Eeli Tolvanen set the table, as if placing a fresh log on the fire, and the arena buzzed with delight at the gift their team had brought home.

In the second period, Tomás Tatar and André Burakovsky joined the chorus. Tatar’s tally, assisted by Jordan Eberle and Vince Dunn, felt like a family gathering around the hearth, each member adding laughter and stories to the evening. Moments later, Burakovsky’s first goal of the season, nurtured by Kailer Yamamoto’s effort, shone with the promise of new beginnings, like a wish made quietly into the winter wind.

Ottawa tried to stir the embers with a third period goal, but the Kraken would not let their flame diminish. Vince Dunn’s late empty netter, with another helping hand from Eberle, sealed the deal and sent sparks of joy into every cheering heart.

As the final horn sounded, the Kraken’s 4 to 1 victory felt like settling into a favorite armchair beside the tree. Their homecoming was complete, their spirit unshaken by travels and trials. The warmth of community and celebration lingered in the rafters, reminding everyone that holiday joy, once kindled, can glow through any season.
