Daccord's Snub on Top 200 Fantasy Hockey Players is a Shame
The NHL released its annual Top 200 Fantasy Hockey players list with a few surprises. The highest-ranked Seattle Kraken member was someone who wasn't even on the team last season, and their best player was near the bottom of that list. Not to mention, the Kraken's starting goaltender, Joey Daccord, wasn't even on the list.
You can check out the Kraken players that made it, here.
It is an absolute shame that Daccord didn't crack the top 200 players, as I'm sure his fantasy numbers last season were adequate to earn him a spot. if you look closely at that list, and compare it to last season's final fantasy numbers, it paints a picture that Daccord hasn't yet been recognized for his talents.
Snubbed
Daccord was snubbed from being named in the NHL.com Top 200 Fantasy Players list, and here is why. Looking at last season's fantasy rankings, Daccord earned 199 fantasy points, which placed him as the 20th best goaltender in the league, and 13th best in the Western Conference.
But, looking at who is around him on that list, goaltenders Linus Ullmark and Adin Hill, who scored 190 points and 152 points, respectively, were named in the Top 200 list. Ullmark was ranked as the 132nd best player in the NHL.com Fantasy ranking for 2024-25, and Hill was even better at 129.
How can that be? How can a better goaltender, statistically, than those two not earn a place on that list?
The Kraken didn't generate enough offense in front of Daccord to award him more victories. And the defense was lacking in front of him as well, which hindered his performance last season as well. I have to believe that if they update that list during the season, or when they give their top 200 fantasy players for 2025-26, Daccord will surely be on it.
Do you think Daccord got snubbed from the list, or did they get it right?
