Lost at Sea: Kraken Shut Out by Bruins
The Seattle Kraken suffered their second consecutive shutout in a 3-0 loss to the Boston Bruins, exposing persistent offensive struggles and leaving fans eager for answers.
The Kraken got off to a slow start, quickly conceding a tipped-in goal by Justin Brazeau. Things worsened when Charlie Coyle scored a back-door power-play goal, as Seattle’s defense, focused on David Pastrnak, was caught off-guard. Penalty troubles plagued Seattle throughout the period, and despite their late push, the Kraken didn’t register a single shot on goal until the final minutes, nearly conceding a short-handed goal before Jared McCann’s backcheck averted disaster.
Goaltender Joey Daccord played a key role in keeping Seattle in the game during the second period, making several impressive saves. Despite his efforts, Seattle’s offense was stifled, struggling even to enter Boston’s zone and barely generating scoring opportunities. Tye Kartye’s hit on Pastrnak and a few physical plays from Seattle’s defense hinted at a potential spark, but the Kraken failed to capitalize. By the end of the period, Boston outshot Seattle 30-10 over the first two periods, with the Kraken still searching for a breakthrough.
Seattle came out with renewed energy in the third period, finally outshooting the Bruins 12-3. Adam Larsson’s big hit and ensuing scuffle seemed to ignite the Kraken, and the team began creating more chances, including shots from the blue line by Brandon Montour. The Kraken pulled their goalie for an extra attacker, but the puck would go through as they hit the post twice instead. Boston ultimately iced the game with an empty-netter.
The Seattle Kraken will close out their challenging five-game road trip with a visit to Colorado on Tuesday, where they’ll face a strong Avalanche team. After back-to-back shutouts, Seattle will be eager to shake off their recent struggles and rediscover their scoring touch before returning home. A solid performance in Denver could provide the spark they need to leave this stretch of poor play behind and get back on track for the upcoming games at Climate Pledge Arena. Kraken fans will be hoping the team can find their rhythm, tighten up their offense, and bring a renewed intensity when they hit home ice.
