Kraken offense strikes again, Daccord shines in 4-1 win over Penguins

The Seattle Kraken stayed true to their recent high-scoring formula on Sunday, firing four goals past the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 4-1 triumph. With Joey Daccord once again holding the fort in net, Seattle improved its perfect record when hitting the four-goal mark since early December.

The Seattle Kraken continued their feast-or-famine scoring trend on Saturday afternoon, netting four goals to top the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 at Climate Pledge Arena. Since December 3, the Kraken are now an astounding 11-0 when scoring four or more goals, but 0-14 otherwise—a testament to just how crucial their offense is in securing victories.

Early on, neither team found the back of the net, as the first period ended scoreless despite several decent opportunities on both sides. In the second frame, Oliver Bjorkstrand sparked the Kraken at 2:16 with a quick strike, finishing a setup by Andre Burakovsky and Chandler Stephenson. Pittsburgh answered just two minutes later when Sidney Crosby beat Joey Daccord from close range, but the Kraken regained the lead late in the period thanks to Vince Dunn’s power-play marker. Jared McCann notched his first of two assists on the night, and Stephenson added another helper as well.

The third period saw Seattle pull away with goals from Eeli Tolvanen—who converted on a brilliant feed from McCann—and a decisive tally by Matty Beniers off a Kaapo Kakko steal and slick pass on a two-on-one break. Once again, Daccord delivered a stellar performance in net, turning aside 28 of 29 shots and demonstrating that while he can keep Seattle in tight games, getting to four goals remains vital for a Kraken win.

In total, the Kraken’s balanced attack and steady goaltending proved too much for a Penguins squad still reeling from goaltending troubles. McCann and Stephenson each racked up two assists, while Kakko and Beniers continued to showcase their budding chemistry. With the victory, Seattle appears poised to keep building on its newfound offensive momentum—and as long as the Kraken keep hitting that four-goal mark, they’ll remain tough to beat.
