Kraken look to finish homestand strong against Predators

These two teams met earlier this season in Nashville, where the Kraken handed the Predators a 7-3 defeat. With that loss still fresh in their minds, Nashville will likely be looking to settle the score as they travel to Seattle for tonight’s matchup.

The Seattle Kraken wrap up their five-game homestand tonight, facing off against the struggling Nashville Predators at Climate Pledge Arena. Though Seattle’s team win streak was snapped Sunday against the New York Rangers, Joey Daccord remains red hot, riding a personal four-game win streak that he’ll look to extend tonight.

Challenges on both sides

The Nashville Predators head into tonight’s game near the bottom of the NHL standings, a surprising position for a team featuring stars like Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, and Steven Stamkos. Despite Juuse Saros’ stellar goaltending—boasting a 2.55 goals-against average and .914 save percentage—the Predators have struggled to put it all together.

Meanwhile, the Kraken continue to battle through adversity. Missing both captain Jordan Eberle and star defenseman Vince Dunn, Seattle has shown resilience on home ice. In their absence, players like Ryker Evans have stepped up on defense, while Jared McCann continues to lead offensively, helping fill the void left by the injuries. Despite being shorthanded, the Kraken are determined to finish their homestand on a high note before hitting the road again.

A familiar foe

One player Kraken fans should watch closely is Jonathan Marchessault. Despite a slower start to the season, Marchessault has built a reputation as a Kraken killer. During his time with the Vegas Golden Knights, he scored nine goals in 12 games against Seattle—more than any other player in the league. Now with Nashville, the Kraken will hope his success was more a byproduct of Vegas’ system, but they’ll need to stay vigilant, especially after successfully containing him in their previous matchup against the Predators.

Game outlook

Though the Predators are slight favorites tonight, fans should expect a goalie duel between Daccord and Saros. With potential line changes on the horizon, Seattle will look to spark its offense and secure a crucial home win before heading back on the road.

Puck drops at 7 p.m. PT at Climate Pledge Arena.
