After a brief conditioning loan to Coachella Valley, Jordan Eberle has been recalled to the Seattle Kraken. Although he didn’t see any ice time with the AHL affiliate, this move suggests a likely activation from injured reserve soon after the conclusion of the Four Nations Face-Off. Eberle has been sidelined since mid-November, when a collision with a Chicago defender led to what Coach Dan Bylsma described as “a major traumatic crash into the boards.”

"He essentially had a major traumatic crash into the boards, so a lot of reaction going on in his mid-body right now."

Eberle’s absence disrupted what had been a strong start to his season. The second Captain in Kraken history was already making his leadership felt, posting 11 points in just 17 games. His pairing with Jared McCann stood out as the team’s most productive offensive combination, until Eberle’s injury created a clear dip in McCann’s numbers. While Eberle was on the ice, McCann notched 20 points in 17 games, but that production slowed to just 22 points over the subsequent 40 contests without Eberle.
With new additions like Kaapo Kakko sparking the top line alongside Jaden Schwartz and Matty Beniers, Eberle may not immediately return to that first-unit role. Instead, he’s likely to rejoin McCann, who’s currently skating on the third line with talented youngster Shane Wright. Placing those three together could yield promising returns for both offensive depth and the development of Wright, as he benefits from the guidance of two proven NHL veterans.
Though the Kraken have a steep climb in the standings, Eberle’s comeback could reenergize the roster and offer fans a more competitive edge in every matchup. Even if a playoff berth seems out of reach, a healthy Eberle—back at full speed—will surely make the rest of the season more engaging to watch and help cultivate a more dynamic offense.
