The Seattle Kraken have much to improve for next season, but they did excel in one major category. As the seventh-best team in the National Hockey League in penalty minutes, they only amassed a total of 653 PIM. But, which individual took the most out of those minutes?
The answer may surprise you.
The Seattle Kraken player that lead the team in PIM is...
Arguably, one of the best players on this roster, Vince Dunn. With a total of 78 penalty minutes, he gave the opposition the most amount of powerplay minutes last season. With only 59 games under his belt last season, this was also a career-high for him.
Behind Dunn was defenseman William Borgen, and 2024-25 potential trade pieces Yanni Gourde and Adam Larsson. Borgen had 65 penalty minutes last season, with Gourde and Larsson trailing him with 62 and 55, respectively. These are all relatively low numbers if you think about them, especially since a staggering 35 other skaters in the NHL had more penalty minutes than Dunn.
At the same time, the Kraken were amongst the worst teams in the NHL to draw penalties. There were only six teams to draw penalties less than the Kraken last season, as they only drew 285 penalties.
Going into next season, if they want to turn things around, they will have to continue this trend of not taking penalties. Giving the opposition an inch, they can take a whole hockey game away with too many chances with a man-advantage.
Will Dunn have the most penalty minutes on the Kraken roster next season, or will someone else take the top-spot?
