The Kraken's Lone 40-Goal Scorer, and Who Could Be Next
The Seattle Kraken are amongst the newest teams in the NHL, so their history is not as rich as most of the other teams around the league. That being said, they do have one player that hit a major franchise milestone, and there are a few other names that could hit that plateau as well.
As they enter their fourth year in the NHL, the Seattle Kraken have not hit many major personal milestones yet. They have not had a 100-point scorer, no 50-goal scorer, or a player win the Hart Trophy for the Most Valuable Player.
But, they did knock at least one significant goal out of the way, and that is having a player with 40 goals in one season. Jared McCann was the player, and it was done during the 2022-23 season. He also set the franchise record for points in a single season, with 70.
As the years go by, so will the chances for these records to be broken. If I was a betting man, which I'm not, I would argue that there are some members of this Kraken roster that could hit the 40-goal mark.
Who Could Score 40+ Goals?
Looking at the youth, Matty Beniers is the sure bet to eclipse 40+ goals. In all honesty, with his skill set, he could easily crush that and move on to 50 or even 60 goals. He had a down year in 2023-24, but he can certainly bounce back next season.
Another stud who can certainly shoot the puck is Oliver Bjorkstrand, who had 20 goals in both of the last two seasons. He seems he could be far off of the mark, but crazier things have happened.
Not to mention, McCann can also break his own franchise record. There is no doubt that he is the best player on the Kraken, and he will surely be up there with his dominant offensive playstyle.
Who do you think will break McCann's single-season scoring record, or will it be someone else?
