Kraken open up preseason against Calgary
It is almost time for Seattle Kraken hockey. Here is the preview of the first preseason game against the Calgary Flames.
The Seattle Kraken open up their preseason tonight against the Calgary Flames. After a long summer, it is time to sharpen skates and tape sticks in preparation for the real deal.
We should expect to see a lot of rookies and younger guys in tonight’s matchup, which should lead to some exciting and tenacious gameplay. Some of these guys are fighting for a chance to make the Kraken roster opening night.
Game Preview
This is the first game of the preseason for both teams, so expect a lot of the NHL- regulars to sit this one out. We may see a few guys who have been in the league for a while, but tonight will be about the rookies and bubble players on the cusp of the NHL squad and residing in Coachella Valley.
Their opponents, the Calgary Flames, will likely be in the same boat. You should expect to see a number of their key players sitting this one out, and their AHL-affiliate stars will take the ice against the Kraken tonight.
Both of these teams had very similar seasons in 2023-24, as they finished with the same point total. Additionally, they both struggled to produce on offense, which was their ultimate downfall last season.
One thing to watch for is the debut of head coach Dan Bylsma. He takes the helm for his first official game. Even though it doesn't count, it should still be regarded, nonetheless.
