The Seattle Kraken began their 2026-27 National Hockey League (NHL) season on the road, and after just two games at Climate Pledge Arena, the Kraken are already back on the road again. Already, the Kraken are heading on their first East Coast road trip of the season.
The Kraken has already had two stops in Detroit and Washington, D.C., with three more stops in Philadelphia, Tampa Bay, and Sunrise, Florida. Seattle has already won two of the five games on the road trip, getting off to a strong start, but the Kraken need to keep the momentum up.
Kraken's offense is exploding
The Kraken have been notorious for their first five seasons for having a rough offensive performance; that is not the case this season.
The Kraken have played in six games so far this season, and they have won four of them. In each of their wins, the Kraken scored at least five goals, including six goals against the Red Wings and five goals against the Capitals.
Last season, the Kraken only scored five or more goals in eight games. In just six games to start the 2026-27 season, Seattle already has half that number of games with five or more goals. The scoring issues have plagued Seattle for a while. Hopefully this high-scoring performance isn't just a fluke to kick off the season, and the Kraken can continue this great offensive performance as they get deeper into the number of games played.
Kraken are starting the season with heavy travel again
For the 2026-27 season, the Kraken will travel the most miles out of any other NHL team. They will cover 51,335 miles, partially thanks to their first-ever Global Series, which will be played in Finland next month. Already, the Kraken are logging hefty miles to kick off the first month of the season.
Last season, the Kraken had an early East Coast road trip, taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, the Philadelphia Flyers, and the Washington Capitals. The Kraken lost four of these five games but picked up two points thanks to overtime.
Compared to their first East Coast trip last season, the Kraken are already off to a stronger start than they were in 2025-26. They still have three more games to go until they head back to Climate Pledge Arena.
The Flyers are next up on the schedule, and they are not off to a good start. They've lost all seven games to start the season. They'll either come out strong, or the Kraken will make it eight losses.
Tampa Bay will be the biggest issue, as they have won four of their five games to start the season. As for the Panthers, they currently have a record of 2-2-2 to start the season, so it's a true toss-up.
Regardless, the Kraken have already had a great start to the season, and they have the tools in their arsenal to keep the momentum going.
