On Wednesday, Nov. 4, the Seattle Kraken hosted the Calgary Flames for the two teams' fourth and final game of the 2026-27 National Hockey League (NHL) season. While the Flames scored first in the first period, the Kraken tied up the game in the second period. With no other goals scored, this game went into overtime to decide the winner, and it was Seattle who took the 2-1 win. This win also marked the Kraken's overall win in the season series over the Flames.
Catton battled back
Berkly Catton tied the game in the first period against the Flames, but Calgary challenged the goal for offsides. Unfortunately for Seattle, the officials deemed the goal was, in fact, offsides. When the first period came to an end, the Kraken were trailing by one.
In the second period, Catton put Seattle on the board, thanks to an incredible feed from Mackie Samoskevich.
Despite Catton's first goal getting called back, he continued to play to his strengths and scored a second goal that counted. He is now on a seven-game point streak, which is currently the longest active point streak by a player 20 years old or younger in the league. Catton has been phenomenal to start the Kraken's season and continues to prove it each game.
Beniers called game
Just 55 seconds into overtime, Brandon Montour stole the puck from a bad pass by the Flames. He passed it to Matty Beniers, who was open by the blue line. Beniers skated to the other end of the ice on a breakaway. With no one there to defend him, Beniers sent the puck into the net to call the game.
This goal marked Beniers' first game-winning goal of the season, as well as his first overtime goal. In just 15 games, Beniers already has eight points. He continues to level up his play style, especially now that he has been playing alongside Mackie Samoskevich, who he used to play with in college. He has always been a strong player for Seattle, but now Beniers has the potential to have an even bigger breakout season, as shown by his incredible puck handling in this game.
Daccord back in the win column
After three straight losses, Joey Daccord is finally back in the win column. He had a rougher start to the season, which caused Seattle to rely on Philipp Grubauer more. Daccord only allowed one goal on 26 shots in this game, earning him a save percentage (SV%) of .962. This was his second-highest SV% of the season.
Now that Daccord looks to be back in the shape he was in last season, and with Grubauer performing in the top percentile of goaltenders this season, the Kraken's tandem between the pipes might be the strongest it's ever been.
