Kraken Expansion Draft : Who could be taken from the St.Louis Blues

St.Louis Blues have a deep team, including a surplus of defenders. Who can the Kraken likely pick from the Blues in the Kraken Expansion Draft? We break them down.

In the lead-up to the Seattle Kraken’s NHL Expansion Draft, we here at the Kraken Chronicle will look at all 30 teams and who could be taken from each. In this edition, we take a look at the St.Louis Blues.

Teams only have one more day left before they have to submit their protection list. Around the league we are noticing trades are being made to get assets for players that would have likely been selected in the Kraken Expansion Draft. St.Louis Blues I would imagine will be active today as well with some high end players likely being exposed. Here are 3 options for Seattle Kraken to look at.

Vince Dunn (D)

Vince Dunn is a quality puck moving defender in the NHL. Yesterday we saw Colorado deal away Graves to ensure they didn’t lose him for nothing, we possibly could see the same for Dunn today. It’s been reported he was on the trade block as early as the trade deadline last year.

With Parayko, Krug, and Faulk likely the protection candidates, it leaves him as the forth man out. At only 24 years of age, Dunn already has four years of NHL experience. His most productive season being 78gp 12g 23a 35p. He would be a major addition on the Seattle roster, and likely would get a chance to run the Power Play. We hope no deals are made today and that he’s available to be picked July 21.

Zach Sanford (F)

Zach Sanford is a 26 year old left winger / centre. He’s had about three full years in the NHL and has produced quite nicely. Last two season he’s  accumulated  26 goals in 110 games. For sometimes viewed as a depth forward, and even getting forth line minutes , that’s very productive scoring.

With an increased roll I’d be curious the kind of numbers he could potentially put up. His analytic numbers have been quite well too, which is something we know Seattle will be looking at. As we saw with Vegas, players who did well on bottom pairings and got a chance at an increased roll, did very well (Haula,Karlsson)

Oskar Sundqvist (F)

Oskar Sundqvist has always shown flashes of brilliance, but never really shown in his stats. The 27yo Swede has been used a utility winger up and down from the top six. He might be one of those players that just needs a change of scenery to better translate his skills into points.

Sundqvist is a big bodied winger, standing 6 foot 3, and his scoring is still decent, usually on pace for 30-40 points. He would be a fine asset for Seattle’s wing depth, if available.
